PARKERSBURG — People really do win at The Parkersburg News and Sentinel and Foodland where the Supermarket Sweepstakes promotion on Wednesday morning ended with more than $2,000 in groceries for two winners.

Debbie Trudo of Little Hocking and Patti Rumbaugh of Parkersburg were selected at random from among thousands of entries submitted. Readers of The News and Sentinel filled the entry form in the newspaper and dropped it off at a local Foodland.

The winners received a 5-minute no-holds-barred shopping spree to fill a cart through the aisles of the south Parkersburg Foodland at the Gihon Plaza.

Rumbaugh and Todd Trudo, Trudo’s son and designated runner, whizzed through the corridors toward the well-stocked meat department.

Trudo collected $898.03 in groceries. Rumbaugh, while slower off the line, managed to stuff $1,118.15 in groceries into her cart.
