MARIETTA — Lashley Tractor Sales of Quaker City has expanded, opening a new branch in Marietta.

After 25-plus years of serving Marietta and the surrounding areas, Hurst Tractor & Garden Equipment, at 1200 Pike St. in Marietta, was bought out by Lashley’s in the fall.

“We are happy to be putting a footprint on the lower section of Ohio,” said Chris Lashley, store manager of the Quaker City location. “We began looking for opportunities last year and came onto this great opportunity for expansion.”

The Marietta dealership joins the current locations in Quaker City, Zanesville and St. Clairsville. Lashley Tractor Sales was founded in 1948 in Quaker City. The Zanesville location has been in business for more than 20 years and has operated in St. Clairsville for 12 years.

“The Marietta location really locks us in with southeastern Ohio,” said Lashley. “We hope to continue expansion and this is one of the many ways to promote it.”

Roger Moorison, store manager of the Marietta location, said it was a business decision by the original owners. There are four employees at the Marietta location.

“The area has a need for these services,” said Moorison. “We promote service and parts along with the sales of equipment which is good in a rural area like this.”

The previous owners of Hurst Tractor & Garden Equipment could not be reached for comment.

Lashley Tractor Sales is an Ohio Kubota dealer for new and used tractors, lawn care equipment, riding mowers, construction equipment, compact track loaders, hay equipment, riding mowers and parts for all this equipment. They carry the full Kubota product line as well as a wide selection of models from  equipment manufacturers such as Land Pride, Woods, Vermeer and Kawasaki.

It is also a family-owned company in addition to being one of Ohio’s oldest tractor dealerships. Store hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon.
