Fruth to speak at Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce dinner

Lynne Fruth

BELPRE — The Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce will be holding its annual dinner Oct. 27 at the Grand Pointe Conference Center in Vienna.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Lynne Fruth, president of Fruth Pharmacy.

“It is gratifying to provide personalized health care in our local communities,” Fruth said about her move into the family business. “As a family-owned regional chain, we are in a unique position to lead the way in the fight against drug abuse.

“Our leadership in fighting meth production by removing single ingredient pseudoephedrine proved that local companies can impact the quality of life of residents in our state,” Fruth said.

Chamber Vice President Kristen Meeks said the chamber is excited to have Fruth speaking. Fruth Pharmacies has a location in Belpre as well as other locations throughout the area.

“We are looking forward to hearing about her point of view on economic development,” Meeks said.

Fruth has served as president of Fruth Pharmacy since October 2010, having  spent the prior 20 years working as an educator and consultant to the public school system.

Karen Waller, executive director of the Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce, said the chamber is growing and wanted to move the event to a conference/event facility.

Some people wondered why the event was moved to Vienna. Waller said Grand Pointe is a member of the Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce and is a bigger facility.

“We are anticipating a large business and community response for the dinner,” Waller said.

One of the highlights of this year’s event will be a video presentation by chamber member CAS Cable featuring the chamber’s platinum sponsors and highlights of the Belpre Area Chamber year, Waller said.

Fruth serves on the Board of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores. Fruth was awarded the Herald Dispatch Business Innovator of the Year Award in 2015 and was inducted into the Marshall University College of Business Hall of Fame in 2012.

The Belpre chamber is continually growing. “We are getting around three new members a month,” Meeks said.

“This will be a special evening as we celebrate business accomplishments and share our vision for the future,” Meeks said.

About eight awards will be handed out, including Entrepreneur of the Year and  Business of the Year. The Belpre Youth Chamber will present a Citizen of the Year Award.

This year’s dinner menu will include bourbon glazed chicken, beef short ribs, golden mashed potatoes, grilled balsamic vegetable medley and a mixed green salad with choice of dressing — all served buffet style. A cash bar will be available. There will be a vegetarian option and must be requested prior to Oct. 17.

The chamber is still accepting sponsorships for the event. People can contact Shannan Shaulis, sponsor chairperson, at sshaulis@cascable.com or Karen Waller in the chamber office at 740-423-8934 or info@belprechamber.com to inquire about sponsorships.
