Peoples Bancorp supports young leaders program

PARKERSBURG – The Peoples Bancorp Foundation, a nonprofit corporation formed to make donations in Peoples Bank market areas, has donated $1,000 to the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation for the organization’s Civic Leaders Fellowship Project.

“The long-term objectives of this program are important to future job growth in our immediate communities,” said Patrick Bryan, Peoples Bank vice president, commercial banker. “The program not only works to provide students with real-world work experience, it also introduces a new generation of leaders to civic and nonprofit organizations that can benefit from their creativity and skill sets.”

The community foundation launched the Civic Leaders Fellowship three years ago to target two areas of local needs, preparation for employment and leadership in communities, across 11 counties. The program employs college-aged students who are residents of the foundation’s service regions for seven weeks during the summer.

Students work in career-related work assignments.

The community foundation serves residents by building permanent assets to meet the community’s charitable needs, managing assets and applying them to the area’s needs and opportunities.
