Holzer Health System announces care facility
Holzer Health System is proud to be able to collaborate with the Meigs County Community Improvement Corporation in establishing a free-standing Emergency Care facility in the Meigs County Health Care Campus.
The facility will feature a 24-hour staffed emergency department, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and a helipad. Other health-related agencies will be located at the same campus including Hopewell Health Centers, which is currently located at this location, and the new Meigs County 911 Center.
“We are proud to be able to expand our services in Meigs County, and fulfill this healthcare need for the residents of the area,” said Brent Saunders, Chairman of the Board, Holzer Health System. “Individuals will be able to receive emergency care, close to home, when seconds matter most.”
The facility is a result of teamwork from all parties involved. The goal of offering this service in Meigs County was a driving force for all involved.
“We wish to express our appreciation to the Governor’s Office of Appalachia, past and current Meigs County Commissioners, Holzer Health System, Ohio Valley Bank, Farmers Bank, Home National Bank and so many volunteers who have given their time and efforts on this project to provide Meigs County residents with healthcare services in a local setting,” said Paul Reed, president of the Community Improvement Corporation.
“Our emergency service team is excited to have a presence in Meigs County,” said Gretchen Nutter, RN, director of Emergency and Urgent Care Services for Holzer Health System. “With Holzer physicians and staff in the area, the patients can expect to receive advanced healthcare services from individuals in the community.”
The facility has a project opening date of late fall/early winter 2014. Emergency care services will include general imaging and CT scan, laboratory, respiratory therapy, and support services. The Meigs Emergency Facility will be an integral part of Holzer Health System, which is a multi-discipline health care system of over 160 Board Certified Physicians and providers offering care in more than thirty areas of expertise throughout southeastern Ohio and western West Virginia.
