Community Resources awarded $2,500
PARKERSBURG – Community Resources in Parkersburg has received a grant of $2,500 from the Peoples Bancorp Foundation, a non-profit corporation formed to make donations in Peoples Bank market areas.
Community Resources was organized in 1986. The agency supports families to improve their life situation and help them become self-reliant. CRI serves low-to moderate-income individuals and families in 11 West Virginia counties. Those counties are: Calhoun, Doddridge, Gilmer, Jackson, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Tyler, Wetzel, Wirt and Wood.
“Peoples Bank is honored to partner with Community Resources, Inc. and provide support and funding,” said Larry Holdren, Peoples Bank senior vice president, business development and community. “Together we’re empowering families and strengthening communities by providing leadership, education, resources, and opportunities that improve quality of life.”
In 2013, CRI provided 11,479 services to families and individuals, which included emergency needs, home weatherization, education and employment assistance, heating and utility assistance, home ownership, and home repair loans. CRI also offers a free income tax preparation service.
Peoples Bancorp Foundation focuses on charitable giving in four major areas: community investment and economic development, youth and education, human services programs that improve the social needs of low- to moderate-income communities and individuals, and the arts and cultures. Organizations receiving grants meet those requirements and serve the markets where Peoples Bank has office locations.
