Asylum Comics to hold free events

MARIETTA – Free Comic Book Day will be held 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Asylum Comics, at 266 Muskingum Drive, Marietta, will be giving away a free comic to anyone who stops by.

Also planned are free face-painting, a visit from costumed superheroes and other kid-friendly activities.

Those who bring a can of food or donate $1 to the Tri-County Food Pantry will receive an extra free comic.

Meanwhile, Lost Legion Games and Comics at 517 21st St. in Vienna is also participating. The store’s hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday.

The annual event began in 2002 to bring more people to local comic book shops. Comic books are an original American art form, created in the early 20th century.

Different shops have different policies on how many free comic books can be received, but at least one is available for entering a participating location.
