Pleasants chamber launches website
ST. MARYS – The Pleasants Area Chamber of Commerce has a new presence on the World Wide Web.
Pleasants Chamber Executive Director Jody Murphy announced the website recentlyduring the chamber’s annual meeting at the St. Marys Golf Club. Murphy said the website (www.pleasantschamber.com) has been on-line for a few weeks, undergoing testing and maintenance.
“This was one of my primary goals,” Murphy said of the website’s launch. “We want people outside the community to know about us.”
Murphy said groundwork for the site was in place when he took over.
“The domains and website parameters had been registered through GoDaddy.com a few years ago,” he said. “The hard work was already done.”
So was most of the expense.
Web designers charge thousands to create websites and a few hundred dollars in annual maintenance. The chamber’s site was put together for a few hundred dollars, most of which was spent a few years ago.
Murphy said the chamber’s only recent expense was about $75 to re-register one of the domain names through 2018.
The chamber website details office hours and the board of directors, but Murphy said the most important feature is the member page.
The goal is to list all the chamber members and links to their websites or Facebook pages, he said.
Murphy is asking area business and community members to visit the site to make sure their business or service is listed as a member. And their website or Facebook page is linked to their business name.
“I want the chamber website to drive customers to our business owners,” he said.
The website also features pages devoted to St. Marys, Belmont and Pleasants County. There’s also information about Newport and New Matamoras.
