Annual Bridal and Prom Expo moves to new location

MARIETTA- On Sunday, brides-to-be will be able to see a variety of bridal gowns on a fashion runway and vendor booths at the fourth annual Bridal and Prom Expo.

The event, sponsored by Faye’s Boutique in Vienna and local radio stations v96.9 and 93R, was held the last three years at the Lafayette Hotel. This year, it has moved to the Comfort Inn in Marietta. Sam Yoho, general manager and owner of v96.9 and 93R, said the decision to change the venue wasn’t for a specific reason.

“It’s change for change’s sake,” Yoho said. “I love the Lafayette; it’s a great venue. We just like to change our venues once in a while, just give the public something different.”

Janet Faye Smith, owner of Faye’s Boutique, said she’s been busy preparing outfits for Sunday’s event.

“I’m getting all the clothes ready,” she said. “We’re showing such beautiful gowns.”

Event goers can expect to see about 35 prom dresses and 59 bridal gowns. Around 20 tuxedos will be modeled as well. “It’s always a big show,” Smith said.

Vendors include Baker & Baker, Prime and the Inn, which will feature event designs and displays, said Shelbi Welsh, assistant general manager for the Comfort Inn.

According to Yoho, there are new vendors that will be on site, including Dangerous Vision Sounds & Lighting, Kalypso Twistz, and Crown Event Rentals & Florals.

Around 35 vendors will be present for the event, which will run from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The cost of admission is $5 a person or $5 per mother and daughter duo.

Yoho said vendors are chosen based on needs of brides-to-be.

“We try to hit every category we can, anything from financial to cake,” Yoho said. The theme of this year’s show will be tropical, according to Smith. She said a lot of the gowns have tropical colors, so the theme fits well.

“We want it upbeat,” she said. “We want to get some spring and summer in here.”
