Meeting set for market vendors

PARKERSBURG – Officials will hold an information meeting next week for prospective vendors at the Downtown Farmers’ Marketplace.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Blennerhassett Hotel in downtown Parkersburg.

Officials want to increase and diversify offerings this season at the market with produce and other agricultural goods, such as meat and dairy products. New programs this year include a veggie valet and the Farm to Market Table.

The Table was created to help people sell their goods at the marketplace without having to set up a booth space.

Prospective vendors are encouraged to get their applications in early to reserve a space. However, applications will be accepted throughout the season.

The marketplace kicks off the new season May 10.

The Downtown Farmers’ Marketplace is a covered, open-air market in downtown Parkersburg. The marketplace was established in 2007 to increase people’s access to locally grown foods and help rejuvenate the city’s central business district.

Since then, the marketplace has become a gathering place for more than 7,000 downtown employees and a shopping destination in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

The Downtown Farmers’ Marketplace is a joint effort between the city of Parkersburg, the Blennerhassett Hotel and the Downtown Development Taskforce.
