Amy Phelps of Belpre and Robert Lucas of Parkersburg were united in marriage on April 29 at the Fort Boreman Park overlook in Parkersburg with friends and family in attendance. Pastor David Hubbard officiated the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the mother of Mara and Cordelia Mendenhall of Belpre and is the daughter of Allen and Loretta Phelps of Marietta. She is a 1996 graduate of Marietta High School and a 1998 graduate of Marietta College with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She is employed by the Parkersburg News and Sentinel as a lifestyles and special projects copy editor and columnist and the editor of Mid-Ohio Valley Parent Magazine.
The groom is the father of Anne Lucas of Parkersburg and is the son of Walter “Ken” Lucas of Parkersburg and the late Helen Lucas. He is a 1985 graduate of Parkersburg High School and a 1988 graduate of West Virginia University at Parkersburg with an associate’s degree in business administration.
He is employed by Poynter’s Best Products as a warehouse manager/dispatcher.
The bride wore a floor-length strapless ivory organza gown with a white flower in her hair, a pearl necklace that had belonged to the groom’s mother and electric blue shoes. She carried a bouquet she made of romance novel page roses, electric blue berries and wrapped with an electric blue ribbon.
Following the ceremony, white iced cake donuts were served. A reception will be held at the couple’s new home on May 28.
Following a honeymoon in Amish Country, the couple and their family reside in Belpre.
