Megan Elizabeth Deel and Roel Luis Flores were married on Nov. 14, 2015, in Nashville, Tenn. The wedding ceremony and reception were held at the Vanderbilt Student Life Center at Vanderbilt University.
The bride was escorted to the altar by her father, Ricky Gene Deel.
The maid of honor was Kasie Sue Ray, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Kerry Millan, sister-in-law of the groom; Melissa Chabera, sister of the groom; Betsi Foster, sister of the bride, and Lisa Baldwin, friend of the bride.
The Best Man was Rob Milburn, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Jayk Wilson, friend of the groom; Cesar Millan, brother of the groom; Joel Millan, brother of the groom; and Jonathan Robinson, brother of the groom.
The bride wore an ivory satin, chapel length Perla Lynette gown with a ball gown silhouette by Maggie Sottero. It featured an elegant illusion lace bodice and cap sleeves, a soft shimmer satin draped pick-up skirt with a lace peek-a-boo panel and stylish flowers at the dropped waist. The gown was embellished with Swarovski crystals and had an inner corset closure finished with a zipper and fabric covered buttons.
The groom wore a charcoal tuxedo by Vera Wang with a charcoal vest, a black silk tie and satin accented notched lapel and pockets.
Cesar Millan, brother of the groom, read a selection from “The Giving Tree” in remembrance of the groom’s late mother, Maria Robinson. Betsi Foster, sister of the bride, read the poem “Love” by Roy Croft. As they exchanged rings, the couple incorporated both the traditional vows as well as modern, personalized vows that they wrote together.
The bride is the daughter of Ricky Gene Deel and Thomasina Elizabeth Deel, both of Paris, Tenn., formerly of Parkersburg. She graduated from Parkersburg South High School in 2006. She attended the University of Kentucky and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s of science in biology. She attended Vanderbilt University Graduate School, earning a master’s of science in cellular and molecular neuroscience. She is a 2015 graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Nursing earning a master’s of science in nursing with a specialty in psychiatry and mental health. She is a board certified psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner and is employed by the state of Texas at the Austin State Hospital where she provides mental health care to underserved populations.
The groom is the son of Luis Villarreal of Port Aransas, Texas, and the late Maria Robinson, of Owensboro, Ky. He is the stepson of David J. Robinson of Owensboro. He is a 2007 graduate of Apollo High School in Owensboro. He graduated from the University of Kentucky summa cum laude with a bachelor’s of science in physics. He attended Vanderbilt University’s graduate program in materials science and engineering. He is a technical sales engineer at National Instruments where he consults with industrial engineers to design control and automation systems.
The couple resides in Austin, Texas, with their beloved dog, Einstein.
