Ridgway—Holtz

Vanessa Aileen Ridgway of Pennsboro and Reece Bennett Holtz of Parkersburg were united in marriage on July 20 at Pennsboro United Methodist Church. Pastor Dan Meek of Broadway Nazarene Church of Parkersburg officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Randall and Vickie Ridgway of Pennsboro. She is the granddaughter of Robert and Shirley Ridgway of Pennsboro and Alvin and Fatima Payne of Dickson. She is a 2005 graduate of Ritchie County High School.

The bridegroom is the son of Scott and Marlene Holtz of Parkersburg. He is the grandson of Glenda and the late Franklin Holtz, and the late Dan and the late Sharon Berry all of Parkersburg. He is a 2005 graduate of Parkersburg South High School.

The sidewalk leading to the church was lined with rose petals and vining petunias. Greeters were Cassie Bohl and Madison Slone, friends of the bride, who were standing beneath a chandelier and draping fabric.

A brass quintet played classical music, including Matthew Jennings, formerly of Pennsboro, and friends. Acoustic guitar music was played by Taylor Sams, cousin of the groom.

The sanctuary was decorated with flowing fabric and candlelight. Vining petunias, provided by Merna Forman, surrounded the altar. The middle aisle was covered with magenta rose petals and a ribbon with dangling crystals.

The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father and entered the sanctuary to the song, “She is Love” by Parachute. She wore a white-diamond strapless fit and flare gown with a sweetheart neckline, a beaded lace corset bodice and lace-up back. The skirt was made with organza flowers and tulle with a cascading train. She wore a double cathedral length veil made of tulle, lace and crystals. She carried a brooch bouquet made by Karen Crislip, family friend.

The bridesmaids were Emily Perdue, Ginger Bartrug, Danielle Bruni, Sarah East, Sarah Marlow, Megan Snider, Chelsea Holtz and Emma Holtz. They wore strapless magenta tea length dresses.

Groomsmen were Samuel Holtz, William Holland, Samuel Bruni, William Richardson, Richard Gandee, Cedric Davis, Kenneth Hess, Joseph Holland, Casey Stoneking and Adam Ridgway.

The groom wore a gray portofino tuxedo with contrasting black satin lapels.

A hand ceremony was performed in place of a unity candle, symbolizing the union of husband, wife and families.

Pastor Kelly Martin of Pennsboro United Methodist Church conducted a ring blessing ceremony. During the ring blessing ceremony, Taylor Sams played “All Your Life,” by The Band Perry.

A dessert reception was held in the church basement, which was decorated with drapings, floor length textured silver linens and candelabra centerpieces. Jason Wyers, formerly of Ellenboro, played piano music at the reception.

He also made the wedding cake, a white four-tiered fondant cake with handmade fondant flower petals that cascaded from the top tier all the way down to the table.

He also made cupcakes for the reception, flavors included red velvet with cream cheese filling and chocolate with fudge filling topped with white flower shaped icing.

The bride and groom left the reception with a sparkler send off.

After a honeymoon to Nassau, Bahamas, they now reside in Parkersburg.
