Caitlyn Leigh Criss and Stephen Francis Santer Jr. were united in marriage on May 18 at St. Michael parish in Vienna. The Rev. John Gallagher officiated the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Christopher and Beth Criss of Parkersburg. She is the granddaughter of Sally Gainer and the late Glen Gainer Jr. of Parkersburg, and of the late A.V. and Gay Criss of Vienna. She is a 2005 graduate of Parkersburg Catholic High School, a 2008 graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in biochemistry and a 2012 graduate of West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. She is working as a physician in her family practice residency.
The bridegroom is the son of Steve and Mary Santer of Vienna. He is the grandson of the late Michael and Regina Santer of Vienna, and Mary and the late Dominec Amatangelo of Bovard, Pa. He is a 2005 graduate of Parkersburg Catholic High School and a 2009 graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in criminology and investigations. He is employed by Homeland Security.
The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a formal ivory gown of silk taffeta with a sweetheart neckline. The gown was embellished down the back with buttons and at the waist was a satin sash tied in a bow. She carried a beautiful bouquet of pink and ivory roses and peonies.
Corey Criss, sister of the bide, was the matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Sarah Rieser, friend of the bride, Marissa Reynolds, sister of the groom, Elizabeth Lawler, sister of the groom, Kendra Stone, friend of the bride, Maria Vivenzio, friend of the bride and Anna Eirich, friend of the bride. Madison Lawler, niece of the groom, was the flower girl.
Ben Archer and Ben Cooper, friends of the groom, were the best men. The groomsmen were James Reynolds, brother-in-law to the groom, Matthew Santer, brother of the groom, Nick Long, friend of the groom, Mac Miglironi, friend of the groom and Cody Suek, friend of the groom. The evening included a traditional service with the lighting of a unity candle. After the ceremony, the couple dashed to the groom’s Jeep while guests held sparklers just as raindrops began to fall.
A dinner and dancing reception was held after the ceremony at the Parkersburg Country Club. The cake prepared by the bride’s aunt, Susan Gainer, was lemon with buttercream frosting and decorated with the wedding colors of pink and gray.
After a honeymoon in St. Croix, the couple reside in Winchester, Va.
