Betty Wilcox of Vienna will celebrate her 85th birthday on September 9.
She was born Sept. 9, 1932, to the late James Myron and Eula Ferree Criss of Parkersburg. She has a younger sister, JoAnn Fisher of Tulsa, Okla, and a younger brother, the late James E. Criss of Parkersburg.
She is a 1951 graduate of Parkersburg High School and a 1955 graduate of West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in music education.
She was married for 56 years to the late Rev. Norman E. Wilcox.
She is the mother of four children, Susan (Terry) Ellison of Parkersburg; Timothy (Brenda) Wilcox of Raleigh, N.C.; James Wilcox of Denver, Colo.; and Steven (Michelle) Wilcox of Brockport, N.Y.
She has seven grandchildren, Courtney Shelene of Parkersburg; Emily Shelene of Pensacola, Fla.; Bethany Painter of Richmond, Va.; Ryan Wilcox of Raleigh, N.C.; Olivia Wilcox of Brockport, N.Y.; Caroline Wilcox of Brockport, N.Y.; and Luke Wilcox of Brockport, N.Y. She has four step-grandchildren, Amber Ingham, Matthew Ellison, Alicia Perez and Timothy Ellison.
She has three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Alexis and Audrey; and six step-great-grandchildren, Emma, Sophia, Kylen, Dylan, Jim and Lily.
She is employed by St. John United Methodist Church in Vienna as organist and pianist. She volunteers at Camden Clark Medical Center.
