Ernest and Eva Dowler of Washington, W. Va., will celebrate their 60th anniversary on October 18.

The couple were married on October 18, 1957, in Parkersburg, by the late R.C. Oliver.

He is the son of Charles Ray Dowler and the late Gwendolyn Hope Brunton Dowler. He served in the United States Navy as an aircraft carrier electrician from 1952-1955.

He retired as an operator from E.I. Dupont de Nemours Washington Works in July 1992 after 35 years of service, most of that spent in the Teflon division.

She is the daughter of the late Henry Clyde Kaufman and the late Delma Florence Bloomer Kaufman. She worked for E.I. Dupont de Nemours for five years before retiring to be a homemaker. Since 1987, they have been the proprietors of Dowler’s Supply in Washington, W.Va.

They enjoy church activites, WVU football, gardening, and time with family.

Their children include Leslie Townsend of Washington,W.Va., Brian (Cathy) Dowler of Cranberry Township, Pa. and Hope (Kevin) Britton of Washington, W.Va.

Their grandchildren include Andrew, Alex and Allie Townsend, Ashley (Moon) Jang, Josh and Neely Dowler, Jacob Dowler and Sean and David Britton.

They have one great-grandson, Elijah Lyle Dowler.
